The suspension was reset for the day which paid dividends and after a fruitful drive in Qualifying, the whole team was pleased when we qualified on the front row, Graham Ford having gone a second quicker to get pole. A puncture was discovered just before race time and a frantic tyre change was the result.
On the grid, with only tarmac in front of us, tensions were running high, only made worse by having to sit through two parade laps after one the slower Se7ens broke down on the grid. From the green light, Mark momentarily lead the race into Paddock bend, but as the Gallery shows, the last half on the corner was done sideways! Jonathan Hudson pounced and took 2nd. With Graham Ford disappearing into the distance, Phil Harvey followed Mark closely for 6 laps, making contact on the entry to Druids and then seconds later at Graham Hill bend. Dave Kimberley then joined the battle for third and we were hoping Kimberley and Harvey would keep each other busy and let Mark attack Hudson to retake 2nd, but Kimberley quickly dispatched Harvey and soon after overtook our number 93 in a very brave maneuver on the damp inside line at Graham Hill bend. Mark promptly pursued Kimberley's number 12 car and attempted to make the most of Dave's mistake, 2 laps later, of going in too fast at Clearways, but went in a little too hot himself, couldn't hold the inside line and they drifted into each other and got locked together. Mark ended up resting on the tyre wall at the entrance to the pitlane, Kimberley carried on for another lap, but retired with a broken steering arm.
The Moontech car had suffered some minor damage, a bent steering arm, dented wing. The impact was found to had shredded the fan belt too.
Graham Ford won the race comfortably 8 seconds ahead of Hudson, with Harvey taking the last podium step.
